Whether it's dining and dancing, music, fun for the kids or hitting the ski slopes, it can be done in the Springs Valley area the weekend of February 14th. The big day is not that far away so it's time to make some plans.
Valentine's
Day, for some, is an opportunity to
celebrate a romantic relationship. However, for many couples, it often
means playing a high stakes game of who loves whom the most, and
shamelessly putting the fate of one's relationship in the hands of a
pompous maître d' at the overbooked, over-priced, and under portioned
restaurant in one's home town.
Whether you're a Valentine's Day
Pro or part of the larger, latter group, February 14th can be a
tricky day that sneaks up on you while you're still recovering from
Christmas and New Years. Brace yourself folks, it's coming!
But don't panic and dive for your
Zagat guide just yet. Springs Valley, the most popular tourist
destination in Southern Indiana, has you covered this year. The
Springs Valley destinations have been planning their Valentine's Day
since before most of you had returned your ugly Christmas gifts. No
matter what your pleasure, this resort town can accommodate you.
Valentine's Day weekend activities at
the French Lick Resort vary as much as the people who participate in
them.
For those who believe romance and
chocolate should always go together, Saturday afternoon's Decadent
Valentine's Chocolate Festival will be the perfect, simple evening
you want. For a small cover charge at the door, you and your partner
can be chocolate connoisseurs for a few delicious hours.
After indulging in your favorite
chocolate, put on your dancing shoes because the resort will be
hosting a Valentine's dance on Saturday night from 8pm until
midnight. The event will feature a variety of great dance tunes from
soft rock to disco.
If you and your partner love music but
sadly have two left feet, sit back and let others entertain at the
Valentine's Jazz Dinner, beginning at 6 pm on Saturday, at the
exclusive West Baden Springs Hotel. This romantic evening package
includes Saturday night dinner with wine service, the sophisticated
jazz stylings of Sarah Stivers, overnight accommodations, and Sunday
brunch at the Café at Sinclair’s.
And what would Valentine's Day be
without those who choose to rebel against it? If you remain
unimpressed by any of the resort's more traditional options, if you
believe that Valentine's day is an over-hyped holiday, created by
greeting card companies to boost mid-winter profits, and especially
if frustration over this obvious scam tends to bring out your morbid
side, don't worry! French Lick has you covered too!
On Sunday, February 14th,
the hotel will be hosting a Valentine’s
Day Massacre Murder Mystery Dinner Show where the cast is plagued by a love quadrangle. The end result, while
not as gory as the 1929 Saint Valentine's Day Massacre, is still
rather startling. Who will perish and can you identify the murderer?
The weapon? Try to solve the mystery before you are hit by Cupid’s
Arrow, too! Enjoy this romantic thriller, which includes a delicious
lunch served at Noon, followed by a 1pm show.
